Even when we could have switched to public school this year, we decided to stay so that our son could complete his "primary" experience (3-6 year olds). We are strong advocates of the Montessori philosophy and practice. Focusing on the whole child, promoting life long learning, learning through doing, developing confidence and independence, building community, and a student-centered approach are just a few reasons we love Montessori. Last year was our first year at MA, but not our first Montessori experience. While we liked the other school, we were drawn to this one because of the teachers and staff (they are exceptional), the schools' commitment to promoting ecological awareness and sustainability, and the many ways they provide children with experiences with the natural world (chickens and gardens on campus, hikes and explorations along the fox river hiking trail, outdoor activities in their very large natural setting behind the school, off campus field trips). Another highlight is all the creative and fun activities the teachers and staff share with the kids. I love that their aftercare teacher is also an art teacher and brings unique and original art projects that our son just loves. His teacher also offers yoga as an optional extracurricular activity during aftercare. How awesome is it that my son already understands he can create his own experience of peace! There is a nice sense of community at the school which is lovely for our whole family. Lots of fun whole family events throughout the year. Our son loves his school, loves to learn, and is thriving. I couldn't ask any more from a school.

(October 8, 2018, 12:10 am)Montessori Academy was exactly what our daughter needed. We love her teacher and are able to really see her flourish in her education as well as at home. This is her second year and she is doing even better than her first year!

(October 6, 2018, 9:55 am)I have had two children attend this school over a six year period. Children at Montessori Academy of Batavia receive a true Montessori experience. The classrooms and grounds of the school are beautiful, natural, and inviting to small children (and adults). The classroom leaders (teachers) encourage a child's natural love of learning, in a peaceful atmosphere, with an emphasis on the greater world around us.
