(December 31, 2018, 3:40 pm)Nice store, most sections packed with product. They have a smaller selection of brands and item types but superior quality deli and meats. I like the octopus salad. Parking spaces are a bit narrow and the lot is crowded so be careful driving.
(November 20, 2018, 1:19 pm)I have been shopping at Caputo's in South Elgin for awhile now, they have a good selection and very friendly staff. (Like Trader Joe's friendly, so don't go there if you're in a very introverted mood.) Some areas they could improve on are...
1) Only about half of their carts have child safety locks on them, so you have to sift through them when you get to the store if you have a little one that could fall out. Some of the ones that do have the straps feel super old and dirty. Probably time for all new ones on the carts! :)
2) The staffing seems sexist with where they put which genders to work in the store. All men stocking the shelves, working the meat counters, the deli counter, and bringing the carts in, and women working the pastry counter and registers. I have NEVER seen a man at the register or a girl stocking shelves. Drives me a little crazy considering we work in the 21st century and other stores have improved with this, example being Aldi that splits the jobs evenly with the genders as far as I can tell. This is probably the only thing that makes me reluctant to keep supporting this store.
