(January 6, 2019, 2:01 pm)I lived in Grayslake for years before stopping in here, and now I try to do all my renting from Family Video. First, because it's a video store in the age of Netflix and Redbox, and I'd much prefer to give money to a locally owned business rather than a public company or an investment bank.
Yes, it's true that streaming can be both more convenient (no need to go anywhere or return anything) and streaming can have an almost unlimited library, but family video has a pretty huge selection of movies and games, in fact I can't remember ever going and not finding exactly what I was looking for.
Also, if it's family video vs. Redbox, there's no comparison - the selection and price is just way better here.
I try to rent here vs. streaming services - the aforementioned "Shop Local" is important to me, plus the service is always friendly and you'll occasionally get calls letting you know your account has been awarded a free rental - which is a nice bonus and a reminder that you actually deal with humans when you patronize Family Video. -

(December 7, 2018, 11:50 pm)One of the few stores I can still rent movies & video games. Its my go to store. Games all perfect to finish campaign or even just to try games without doing a gamble of buying it.
