  Super affordable menu includes all the standard Chicago-Style hot dog/burger joint items PLUS a variety of excellent authentic Mexican taqueria. The perfect example of the delicious melting pot that IS Highwood, Illinois.

  It did not take long for the Mean Wiener to become one of my favorite food joints, portions are good, they have a decently sized menu with some variation (trying everything on the menu, some each time anyway. And yet I still haven't finished working my way through it), and like their name would suggest they really do make some good dogs. I would highly recommend not eating more than 2 of their dogs if you're a person with a normal appetite though, as they do come with a bunch of fries on the side (I tried pushing my limit with three dogs, and I had trouble working my way through the fries at the end)
