Have been renting violins from Hoffman Strings for 4 years now. Great quality instruments at affordable prices. The owners are knowledgeable, caring and always ready to help. The shop is on a smaller side, but feels cozy and we always feel welcomed. The only place we want to rent from. Always ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ from us!

Wonderful experience! Recently bought a new violin from Hoffmann Strings for a good deal, as well as a new violin case as well. Mr. Hoffmann was extremely sociable and considerate, and the service was quick and of high quality as well. Would definitely highly recommend visiting this place, you'd be surprised at how many great finds are in such a small shop!

We rent our son’s viola from Hoffman Strings for school orchestra. Have had a great experience so far. Thank goodness for the insurance - we had a small mishap and broke the chin rest, and they were able to repair it quickly. They also gave me tips on how to care for the bow so it doesnt break. Great customer service.

I went to return my daughter's violin to Hoffmanstrings a couple of days ago. I told the owner William that my daughter received so many compliments about how beautiful her violin looks as it has a nice cherrywood finish. For this reason as well as for the fact that she's had it for the past 4 yrs, she's grown attached to it and wanted me to purchase it for her. However, she recently switched over to the viola due to a shortage of viola players in her orchestra class. I therefore didn't want to spend money on an instrument she may never play again.

To my surprise, William gifted the violin to my daughter, and said she can have it! When I told this to my daughter after I got home, her jaw dropped. Then she smiled a big smile and hugged her violin.

I just want to say a big THANK YOU, William! It's very generous of you...you made my 17yo teenager very happy, and warm & fuzzy inside. She says thank you to you, too (while hugging her violin). 😊

Your store itself may be little in size, but you and your staff are friendly, personable and big hearted! As long as my daughter continues playing string instruments, we'll continue being your customers. Thank you for the years of service you've given us!

I absolutely love this store and I have been to many music stores in the north/northwest Chicago area. Mr. Hoffmann is kind, highly knowledgeable and respectful of your needs. Just purchased my second cello from him and it is a dream. Thank you!
