Going to any other dentist is like choosing fast food over 5 star restaurants... When the fast food is more expensive. It's a no brainier

There are always posts on Facebook asking about good dentists... I want to share an good experience. I hope someone finds it helpful. **Note: I have no idea what insurances he accepts. We have private insurance.

My husband needed extensive and expensive work, according to 2 dentists in Missouri and 8to8 Dental in Glen Carbon. All 3 dentists gave him a bid of over $4000 out of pocket .... after our insurance. Each dentist started working on a tooth, claiming to uncover more problems, and leaving him in greater pain when he left, telling him to return when he has another lump sum of cash to put towards some more work.

Each time he switched dentists it was because the dentist would not fix the small cavities or issues to at least relieve some pain until the major problem teeth were done. They wanted him to keep coming back, of course. Each dentist was visited a minimum of 5 times by my husband and the worst one got 15 visits from him and caused a lot of unnecessary pain, leaving a tooth "prepped for a root canal and exposed".

Last week a tooth broke in half. My husband picked a random dentist from a Google search looking for anyone who would treat him immediately. That lead him to Dr. McMasters. A dentist a great friend of mine, Sherie Worthen-Skaggs, has raved about on every single post requesting dentist referrals ever made on this site, and I ignored for some unknown reason. Actually, I do think I know why I ignored them.

She has mentioned that he is older and very "old-school". I tend to be technical. I like digitally sending my xrays and paying my bill on a hospitals website. Not mailing a check with a stamp.

Let me tell you, ignoring the fact that we have a wonderful dentist with an old school philosophy was the worst mistake.

1 week later, in only 3 visits, and a mere $150 out of pocket after our insurance and my husband has a healthy and pain free mouth.

Dr. McMasters works without his assistant sitting next to him. His xray machine is the big uncomfortable thing that requires that plastic piece to go into your mouth that spreads your mouth 2x wider than God ever intended. And you probably have to mail him a paper check with a stamp (He hasn't even asked us to pay him yet so I'm unsure.) But let me tell you something. High-tech he may not be. But honest, he is. God bless him.
