  I came home to a frigid house the day after New Year's Day. Luckily, I have another furnace for the 2nd level of the house, so it wasn't an emergency. I'm pretty handy and went to work, trying to troubleshoot what was wrong. A bunch of disassembly, YouTube videos, reading the install and operating manual several times over, lead me to a broken blower. The blower was inop, causing the eventual overheat and gas lockout. I took the blower motor out and tried to direct wire it to see if it would turn. No go. I pulled off the control module from the back of the GE 1/2 HP motor and found one of the wafer type capacitors fried. The house had been hit by lightning before I bought it a little over a year ago. The previous owner had almost all the electronics and heater and AC units repaired by the insurance claim, except for this unit. The year I've been here, I've still been tracking down electrical gremlins and failures. I looked online and the cheapest new control module was $350, the cheapest motor was $850. Several ones were on eBay, some with a return policy, some without. Out of curiosity, I called Monee-Peotone Heating to see what they might have. I was called back within 15 minutes after I gave them the model number. Turns out they had a motor with the control module in the back, which they had taken out of another unit with a cracked heat exchanger. I won't say what they charged me but you can't feed more than 3 people at McDonald's for what they gave it to me. I had it home, installed and the furnace blowing hot air within an hour. The service rep called during the install, after I ran the tests for functional operation, which I found in the manual, to see if it had worked for me. I cannot express how happy I am that they were willing to sell me the used part, even more shocked by the price and the interest that was shown to me wether or not my guess was right and I had gotten it fixed. They saved me at least $800 and even more had I had to pay for the service call. It's great to see that considering I am a trained mechanic but not in home HVAC units, that they were willing to work with me and give me some credit that I knew what I was talking about and followed the proper steps to find the problem. I will definitely be calling them for ANY HVAC issues I might have in the future. Great attitude, great service! Thanks again.

  Wonderful experience all around. Mike was very understanding of our situation, and was able to schedule our service quickly. Bob was friendly, helpful, and very pleasant to work with. As new homeowners, we very much appreciated the time they both took to advise us of maintenance needs and what to be vigilant about with our older system. The pricing was very reasonable and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

  On one of the hottest days, on a blistering Friday night in July, Peotone Heating & Air Conditioning came out to “try and provide us some relief for our upstairs area.” With no hope of doing so, after countless hours of trying everything, we had to purchase a new unit. First thing Monday morning...our unit was installed and it works better than excellent! Our upstairs area is cooler than ever!
