“Great traditional Baptist church. Pastor Byrd's sermons teach how to be and live like a Christian in today's time. He uses the Biblical text and makes it relevant, understandable in a personable way. Big emphasis on chikdren's/young adult ministry too! Break out sessions so the young people can learn on their level and the adults can get the stern talking to we many times need. Wednesday night Bible study is fun, relaxed atmosphere and so very instructive. Great choir, great clergy, servants and people. If you are looking for a church home, check Jubilee out.”

“This is the cemetery for the old Joliet Penitentiary and is no longer in use. It replaced the previous cemetery that opened in the 1800's that's located about .75 miles NorthEast. Monkey Hill is well maintained, although access is across a ditch that's often flooded. It's directly across the street from St. Mary's cemetery. It opened in 1936 and was used to inter the unclaimed bodies of inmates. The headstones were manufactured at the old Joliet Penitentiary. Vaults were not used - inmates were buried in pine boxes, and during new burials previously interred would be accidentally exposed. If you're interested in local history or the old Joliet Penitentiary, it's worth a visit.”
