Went here for brunch today after church and it was delicious! My wife had their burger with some excellent greens, and I had their Mexican pozole, sort of like a stew. We also split one of their homemade pop tarts. We sat upstairs in the bar area and our service was excellent! Would recommend to those wanting a new place to eat in the Fort! Cool decor too!
NOTE: my photos are a bit outdated now that they have introduced the bar upstairs. Bird & Cleaver is a great spot! I haven’t tried anything that is less than stellar. Their menu is super inclusive of dietary restrictions and I get the feeling their servers and kitchen would be friendly about any other needs. Plus great beer, wine, and cocktail selections. The service has always been kind and quick. The styling is beautiful and comfortable too! Easily one of my favorite places in Ft Wayne. I usually go for the After School Special bowl and Shrub Soda (especially if they have any flavor with jalapeño)!
Loved it. The first time I went, it was for brunch. I didn’t love what I got, but it was still good This time, I went for dinner and got the after school special. It was SO GOOD. I don’t like to eat beans unless I cook them myself but these were so tasty. Their cocktails were good too. Service was great. And of course the inside of this place is super cute. They serve amazing dips with toast. I keep forgetting to ask them if they have gluten free bread. If they do, the menu didn’t communicate this.
As a vegetarian, I was beyond thrilled to see the selection they had. Usually restaurants have the token vegetarian option like a black bean burger or pasta. Bird and Cleaver has deliciously made and creative vegetarian/ vegan dishes. They also have great meat dishes as I’m told by my boyfriend. What a great addition to the Fort Wayne restaurant scene. The only thing I would recommend is installing sound absorbing panels as it can be quite loud when busy.
The food here is great! Lots of vegan/vegetarian options. Definitely get the hillbilly cheese dip and indulge with their vegan chocolate cake. Loved the fact that it's in a cool old house too!
caramelized onion, bacon and cornmeal biscuits + collards.
In keeping with the theme of the new year being a time for change, we have decided to continue trying to eat clean as much as possible (at least for the time being). For some strange reason, fish is rarely on the menu around here. We will go months without it, eat it a few times in a row, and then it disappears...
