After over a month of daily trying, I assumed that the old watch did not have the capability and ordered a new watch from Target. When I put the new watch on the charger next to my phone (and old watch) the old watch synched! There was no hassle from Target with the return even though I had opened the package and charged the watch! I was pleasantly surprised and impressed!
