Here's the thing - I'm glad we went. The place is old and dusty and a little just thrown together, but it's got that kitschy historic feel you sometimes just crave. It definitely needs some maintenance and cleaning. No doubt about it. But we had fun.
Gary, the barber of many MANY years, is a great guy. He was great with the kids, and you could feel his excitement when he talked to them and showed them the different toys in the caboose. My husband and 4-year-old got simple haircuts that they were pleased with, and we got to see something different and experience someone's passionate excitement.
I only took pictures of the front half so as to leave the rest a mystery for visitors to experience only. That's the excitement, isn't it?
Cool, no nonsense place inside a caboose.
Gary is great. The place is in a train caboose, Christian atmosphere
I remember this place. I would come here regularly to get a haircut with my Dad and Brother.
That was like 2009 - 2012 that I went there. I wonder if the Barber still remembers me. I once remember my brother wanting a mohawk. Gary did just that. My dad and Gary were close, but I was too young at the time to remember what they talked about. Last words I heard from Gary were something along the lines of a stolen golden dresser handle or something. Any way, serious talk. Gary was always quite nice to me and my brother, and cut exactly the hairstyle we desired. Including that mohawk. ;)
Overall, a very nice place.
I have been getting my hair cut with Gary at his shop for several years. Gary is veteran barber with good skills and personality. The unique surroundings of getting ones haircut in a actual old train caboose is fun. I appreciate his loyalty card program which earns me a free haircut after ten cuts. Got a free one this morning.

The only place I go to to get my hair cut is McCordsville Barbershop. I've recommended it to all my friends and family for a good reason. The place is different, way different from the thousands of similar barbershops. The relationship between a barber and customer has long been an intimate one.
