  Nice little nature walk. Offers a few levels of walking trails. Clean and quiet. Safe place in the community where you can go and just birdwatch or just take a stroll with the kids. Take a perk in the visitors center. You dont want to miss their exhibits. Great observation room to take your child for close up viewing of birds feeding.

  A beautiful, peaceful hidden gem in Hammond, IN! My kids and I are regular visitors to the bird watching room. Great trails and amazing opportunity to see nature at it's finest. They offer many fun, educational classes for kids. I love that there's this place my kids love as much as they love computers and tables!

  The classes are really nice. We learned about bird features, bird behavior and bird calls. Mrs. Caren was very good with the preschoolers and had approoriate activities for all the age groups. You really learn to pay more attention to nature because it is talking to you!

  I literally stumbled upon this wonderful nature preserve while recycling paper ..it's tucked behind a school at the end of a neighborhood.. perfect trail for my needs, full of wildflowers and wildlife... the center is full of interesting local fossils and finds. The Mastodon bones are extremely nice to see. The best part was the bird watching room . I spent almost an hour sitting in a comfy chair watching hundreds of different birds swoop in and out . Seeing them jostling around the several feeding platforms was quite fascinating, and was exactly what I needed.. great place to bring the kids, and there's several picnic benches if you want to bring a basket ..
