“Great place for tattoos and piercings. Gave them a picture of a tattoo I wanted. When I came back to get it done, the artist had changed the whole thing. It was so much better than the picture I gave him. I get so many compliments on the detailed work. Have had my cartilage pierced and Chris is amazing. I had some problems with it healing and called him several times. He told me how to speed up the healing process and everything worked out great. As long as I’m in this area, this is where I’ll go. The only draw back is because they are so good, they seldom do walk-ins. You mainly need to make an appointment. Sometimes getting a tattoo is a spur of the moment kinda thing and you want to get it done right away. Other than that, I recommend this shop to anyone who wants tats and/or piercings.”

“Excellent place to get whatever you're looking for for Home Design to crafts. Just recently bought some of the fake plants for a terrarium and an Aquarium! They tend to have good sales often, and can be the perfect spot for Christmas presents!”

“For me the best car dealer here in NW Indiana..! Love this place and I've bought multiple cars here..! Just ask for Chris or Van and they'll take care of the rest, including set you up with Tim in the finance office who will get it done for you...! Have owned both VW's and Audi's and they are outstanding refined vehicles, can't recommend this place more highly...!”

“No other pharmacy matches the low prices for perscriptions. It is important for people that do not have insurance coverage for pharmaceuticals. Once they record my discount card info, there never is any hassle again about getting the discount each time. Many pharmacies ignore discount cards. Costco is loyal to it's members. In general, Costco stores are always very crowded. This store is no exception. Based on the savings people get on products, this is no surprise. Staff seems always friendly and helpful. Glad I am a member.”

“My wife recommended I go here because she works at a dental lab that produces crowns and dentures, she said they do a very good job prepping the tooth for a crown as she sees the impression of the mouth to build the patients crown. I've been to Dr. Frances Seller twice now once for a cleaning and exam and today for two fillings, one of which was a little deep. The procedure was almost completely painless and I've been a little uneasy about going to the dentist for years (a few bad experiences with my last dentist). It's been several hours and I have zero pain. Dr Frances is very kind and gentle in the mouth, she explains everything she will be doing before starting. I think I've finally overcome my fear of the dentist and will definitely be going back here for cleanings and any future dental care I may need.... Highly recommended!!!!!!!”

“We have always gone here. The prices are reasonable and in the back corner they have a clearance section . We love all of the different things you can get. If you are somebody who can create new things this is the perfect place and if you just want to get something already made your good to.”

“Have been a member of this gym off and on since 1991 when I was 13....although the equipment is old...in my opinion it is all still very relevant and for the most part in good shape...the staff is kind and so are the members of the gym...everyone is friendly...the locker rooms may not be as desirable or kept up as one would like...but what you get for the membership rate is where the trade off is...the best value by far in northwest Indiana...the free weight room is excellent.”

“Love the teachers! They treat my children like their own!”

“I must say that the less than stellar reputation of this school is simply wrong. Whenever you mention to someone from the NWI area that your kids go to any of the Merrillville schools they immediately give you a look like "I feel so sorry for you". I have twin boys who are now in 2nd grade here and quite frankly we have not really had any problems beyond the typical "less than perfect teacher", but is there such thing as a "perfect teacher" no, of course not. We have had great outcomes as far as our kids go, they love going to school there and they love their teachers. Frankly, we have been quite impressed the staff and the administration. Our boys come home with an appropriate amount of home work every day. They have an excellent "good behavior" incentive program called Pirate Bucks’ The kids earn play money for good deeds and grades which really motivates them to work hard. Overall our boys are in the very top of their respective classes each year, but I believe that that is not just because of their teachers, but because of a mix of good educators that care and a good dose of parental involvement. My wife and I take some time every night to go over their homework as well as have them read to us almost daily. We also have them work on 400 page workbooks each year throughout the year just to make sure that we're not missing anything. Our boys may not become Rhodes Scholars, but if they do or don't, it will not be because of their elementary school, middle school or high school. I will be a direct result of how much effort they and my wife and I put into it. No school can really make up for bad parenting or lack of a good home environment and unfortunately this part of lake county has its share of students with dysfunctional homes which is a tragedy, but it’s not a fault of the school system, nor is it an excuse for parents to blame someone else for their kids bad grades. Grading a schools worthiness because of some crummy test scores is just ridiculous, if your child is not doing well in school it’s YOUR fault! Look in the mirror and explain to yourself why you don't spend enough time with your kids or why you can’t spend $6 at Costco to get a big workbook to supplement their education. As for the other kids causing our children to get less attention, we work to encourage both of our boys to be leaders among their peers, not to follow the other kids who cause problems. We expect them to make friends with the under privileged kids and show them how to act. It teaches them compassion for others who may not be so blessed, it builds their character and it teaches them how to deal with adversity in public places. I firmly believe that my kids will be better able to function as adults because they learned to deal with all kinds of people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and economic status at such an early age. At the beginning of the year, my wife went to a PTO meeting and only 6 parents showed up! How is that the schools fault? That one statistic is more telling of where the fault lies with our education systems downfall in America than any academic testing for the students of Americas Failed Parenting System. Yes, that is what I said! We have a parenting problem in America, NOT a teaching problem. I'm sure that won’t get me any votes for president, but I'm not running so I will speak the truth. And yes, I would put my kids up against any private school kids and if they didn't perform well, then the fault lies with me. ”
