Excellent surgeon! If I was only rating my pre-op and surgery experience I would give Dr Calloway 5 stars. He's friendly, personable, knowledgeable and does a great job of explaining what he's going to do and what he did do after surgery. But.... once the surgery is over and the one week supply of pain meds (percocet 5mg) are gone, you're on your own in a living hell of pain and sleeplessness. Apparently the doctor or Franciscan Health is more afraid of me becoming a drug addict than keeping the patient comfortable so they can heal. I ran out of pain meds before my post op appointment and called and asked for the Dr to call in a prescription for some type of pain med but they said to wait until my appointment. I started alternating Advil and tylenol (maximum dose) which kept the pain from being excruciating during the day but at night the pain was unbearable. At my post op Dr Calloway reluctantly prescribed me Tramadol which according to the Pharmacist is slighly stronger than an asprin and has alot of side effects including being used as a anti-depressant. As you can imagine, this did nothing for the pain. I called crying the next morning after being up all night in excruciating pain and that afternoon the doctors assistant called and said sorry the doctor will not prescribe me any other pain meds and I should call my regular doctor and see if they would give me a prescription for pain medication, which I did. Unfortunately my doctor was on vacation so that was a fiasco in and of itself and after being treated like a drug addict by the PA that I saw, I was finally given a one week supply (28 pills) of vicodin. I have had two nights sleep in the 3 1/2 weeks since my surgery and that's with me taking Advil all day and a hydrocodone/ acetaminophen 5-325 and Advil at night. So if you want a great surgeon Dr Calloway is the man. But if you want to be treated as something more than a cash cow after the surgery and to get the medication you need to be comfortable and actually get some rest so you can heal I'd recommend you go somewhere else.
