Wonderful place. My close friend spent his last week of life there. It was peaceful and calm and a nice facility for friends and family to visit. I am so happy this place is available.

The Hospice Center on Deborah Drive. Is an excellent facility. And by no means would anyone who works there would steal from a patient. My wife passed away there in July of 2019. After a 7 year battle with Cancer. I personally spent 17 hours a day with my wife. And she and I were treated with the utmost respect. At a time in my life when my wife of 47 years is going to pass away. She (my wife) was a nurse for 32 years and she was treated with exemplary care and kindness. By a staff of wonderful and caring people. I am sorry the other individual thinks the staff stole from him or her. But I can personally assure you it was none of the staff I had encountered. And each every person on staff at some point took care of my wife. I am applaud that someone would even question their integrity. This was the most heart warming experience I could have had for my wife's end of life. I am so compelled to help the facility and the patients family who have to stay with a loved one that I am personally purchasing (4) gel foam mattresses for the (4) fold out couches that they have at this facility. I would almost guess the person who is complaining also did not spend the night with their loved one very often. Or they would have a complete different view of what they (the staff) do for a living and care for the dying patient and their family. I think I was at the Hospice center at the same time as this person who is complaining about theft. I heard someone railing on them a few times. I am sorry life has treated you so poorly. I hope your wounds have healed. May your loved one rest in Peace. I know my wife will because for their assistance at this time in her life and in my life. God speed to all of the souls who pass away there. And I am very very thankful that HOSPICE HOUSE on Deborah Drive in Bloomington, IN accepted my wife as a Patient. Thank You. HW

“the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life; the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”

    Hubert Humphrey -
    Humphrey Building Dedication, 1977

I spent a calendar week in this facility with my mother as she passed. Her end was beautiful, difficult, peaceful, and full of compassion.

The empathetic nature of this staff cannot be overstated- from doctors to nursing, techs, counselors, and even housekeeping- all hours of the day and night there were ears, shoulders, hugs, and blatant caring for us both.

I asked many of them how they do their job every day, knowing how the story ends. They said it was a privilege to add peace, comfort, and care to the last days of peoples’ lives.

Vera, Lee Ann, Cheryl, and Teresa. Whitney and Amanda, Deborah and Jules, and Marcie and Bliss. . . Even Kay spent time talking, sharing, and consoling as I prepared to lose my only parent.

The grace with which they encompassed us- my mother and I- is testament to their dedication. I can think of anything I needed that was not provided.

I have experienced hospice care both in hospital and at home, but this facility and its’ staff are testament to the strength and beauty of Bloimington, the place that both built and continues to sustain the Hospice House.
