Beautiful hike to the lake front and back. Great exercise and a lot of sandy hills!
Such different plant diversity and friendly hikers on this path. Beautiful and peaceful views of Lake Michigan. I was the only one on the beach. The sand dune on the way back is no joke, so be prepared. Around 4 miles and it’s an out and back trail.
Great hiking as well. One path goes to the lake the other through the woods and there's tons of sassafras that you will be passing up on your way through the woods. The root beer plant is a great plant and to know what you're looking for it's a tree has a leaf that looks like a dinosaur foot the next time you go check it out.
Amazing place! But DO NOT do what we did and follow the REI guide into the trail directly off the parking lot. That is not the path you’re looking for...
You must walk back out of the lot the way you drove in! It was a beautiful hike. When we got to the water there were a lot of boats there, so it felt less secluded and like less of a reward, but nonetheless was very welcomed. Taking a dip after a hot hike was perfect. The sand was HOT. Be prepared.
I've been here a ton of times. Love this place. Parking gets jammed some times, but it's still great. I use it for exercise and to get out of the house. It's roughly a 2 mile hike to the beach and there are signs up telling you which way to go. Nature at it's best.
