Great park for camping, horseback riding(bring your own), canoeing on the river and hiking. They have great activities year round and the staff is great@
First time here to look for Morels. I like it here but, unfortunately, no Morels that I can see. Maybe too early, I don't know. I have the worst luck anyway. I heard from someone, their friend found some 800 of them a year or two ago and they had met another who found 1,800! I'd be happy with a bag or two that I can share with my inlaws. I'll be back again...I'll exact my revenge on those elusive mushrooms.????
I spent an afternoon hiking Tippecanoe with a buddy. Even though it was the week of Memorial Day, the Nature Center was closed. We hiked Trail #4, which was a nice walk in the woods. Next we did the short trail up to the Fire Tower, which was the highlight of the day. The view up there is excellent. The last trail we did was up at Trail #8. It was pretty short.
All the trails we hiked were pretty poorly marked. There we Y's in the trail with no markings on which was we should go, especially up at trail 8. It was a peaceful day, but the park is not as well done as most of the other Indiana State Parks.
Beautiful park...horse trails could use a few more markers along the trails to let you know which loop you are on. Trails are sandy and easy to moderate. Good for beginners and young horses.
Really nice park. Great price with lots to offer in and outside the park. The lady at the front gate was great and super helpful. I highly recommend this park to families and friends groups. We stayed in the river tent/primitive camp right on the river and I'll do the same in the future. Great park.
