St. Mary's Catholic Parish

This is the prettiest Catholic Church in this county! It's immense and, according to its history, it was built mostly by its own parishioners. Recently redecorated, it is absolutely stunning! Check out the constellations that are visible in the vestibule. Plus, the stained glass windows are so pretty when the sunlight comes through them in the morning. As you exit the church in the rear, look above the door. There is a carved statue of the Blessed Mother made out of olive wood from the Holy Land. It is incredibly intricate! And, the carvings on their baptismal font are unbelievable - simply awesome!

I felt closer to heaven

Great place to worship. Ability to social distance, everyone required to wear a mask and they do, the priest is great. A wonderful spiritual experience.

Awesome old church

A beautiful Old Country Church!!
The cornerstone is marked 1949.
Their yearly summer parish picnic and auction is delightful fun.
Situated on top of a hill overlooking the town of Portsmouth, the cemetery directly behind the church has an incredible and commanding view of the countryside clear to the horizon!
