Shawnee Hills

My father lives here. He's been there now for a year and a half and I wholly appreciate the careful care of the staff and all they do for him. It is so much better than a "nursing home" they have additional services for health care and it is impressive and comforting.

Well my first experience was amazing. I must admit I was a little hesitant as the connotations associated with Assisted Living & similar facilities has been somewhat negative in the past. This of course is probably memories of years ago with my grand parents. Well... this place is GREAT! The dinner lounge was filled with family members joining their loved ones for lunch. I have never seen so many beautiful children at such a facility. The staff is passionate about their residents their services and the community. There is a huge common area Kitchen that residents and their guests can use for family gatherings and the residents themselves will often host dinner parties. The main dining room is open 24/7 so you are not limited to a specific time for a specific meal. This is great as my Pappy who had retired from Ford was up at 3:30 every morning with breakfast at 4am, lunch at 10am & dinner at 3pm and bedtime snack at 7pm lol. Not to mention the variety of food there is to choose from and the great taste & care they take in preparing. The head of maintenance has decorated a wing dedicated to Veterans with donations from residents & their families & started a group to support & honor resident veterans. There is a salon on sight for beautifying & pampering as well as a great fitness room. The apartments are very clean and up to date with some having a small fenced in patio perfect for pets. I have a new vision for assisted living that is not only positive but encouraging. I highly recommend Shawnee Sr. Hills.

What a joy to spend time with the residents! Kelli and Donnie, FUN Director, were super to work with. This is a beautiful community!

My name is Barbara and I have lived at Shawnee Hills for over 4 and 1/2 years. Before I moved here I lived in a nice little apartment with lots of windows but for some reason got almost no sunlight. My brother and sister-in-law called it "the cave" and suggested I move into a senior community. That was the last thing I wanted to do but they pushed and pushed. Thank goodness they did! I love it here. I live on the third floor, have a nice view, a nice breeze, and lots of sunshine. The people who live here are all so nice and we are all at about the same stage in our lives. I have made some great friends and there is always something for us to do (if we so desire). There are games, card games, art classes, craft classes, trips to many interesting places, etc. The people who work here are special people. When I lost my son about six months ago, they were all right there for me. They were my family. I am so lucky to be here at this point in my life. I am happy! I would give this 5 stars except for the small problem in the dining room. There is a shortage of servers right now but they are addressing the problem and soon will have it solved.

Wow. My mom was happy there her very first day. Shawnee Hills is like a really nice hotel with a personality all its own. She has now spent 2 weeks there and loves it. She loves the residents, facilities, staff and food. Mom now walks every day ... in the halls or outside depending on the weather. Everyone is so friendly. They put up my dad's navy uniform in the veterans display ... which my mom totally loves. My aunts and uncles really appreciated it too. Family and friends all love her room and are really glad she is there.
