1/2 chicken cooked straight up over a wood fire!! Amazing chicken! Served with tortillas onions and salsa, that is amazing. Beans and rice on the side as well. This is no 5 star restaurant but it's a 5 star dive for sure! Just plan amazing food! Great spot for a weekday lunch because it's quick in and out. By the time you are done paying at the counter, they are handing you your food. For $12, I was stuffed full with an entire 1/2 chicken.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! Their smoked chicken is the bomb! It comes with rice and beans, pickled red onion, avocado, lime and tortillas! They have real mexi-cola! A KC hidden gem!!! The food here is so good. Simple menu and there is a reason the chicken. That's all they have and it's all you will want. When you find yourself craving it the next day you will wish you bought a to go half. The beans are just like my wife's Abuela use to make. The rice, salsa and tortillas are so good. Amazing job to everyone at El Pollo Rey!!! Can't wait to come back.
