I went to the dentist 3 weeks ago after a chipped tooth and a filling camE out. He told me my tooth had an infection and exposed nerve and was above his expertises so he gave me a referral. He never gave me anything for pain or the infection. Because of covid the oral surgeon was booked until 3 weeks out and I suffered for 3 weeks. The infection spread to my jaw, gum and entire right side of my mouth. He was shocked I didn’t get antibiotics at the dentist or pain meds at the previous dentist but he properly drained and treated the infection and prescribe meds. He even billed my health insurance along side my dental because the issue was health related as well. The point I’m trying to make is why do Black Women not get taken seriously when we are in pain? The infection has spread to my throat and I thought I had strep with a runny nose and yet I had to go to a specialist to get proper treatment.
