One of my personal favorite things about this place is that both Dr Owens and Ms Christina the medical massage therapist have had to gently remind me of areas I could improve on in my own time--an example would be drinking more water. I generally usually always drink water, I'm like everyone's water police, but Doc thought to remind me, and he was right (and more than one time, too). Three times a week seemed like a lot at first, especially when I realized how miserable I was, but it helped that he assured me that what I was going through was normal. It felt like anything but normal. There were ZERO fully functioning vertebrae in my neck. I was 25 pounds underweight upon beginning my 3 month journey of treatment. For the last few years, I had severe insomnia, too, sometimes being COMPLETELY unable to fall asleep AT ALL, ALL NIGHT. I certainly should have come in sooner! Another thing I love about this place is being in and out in absolutely no time. It's a very helpful thing when you're in pain. The massage therapist is super encouraging and is a great listener, and patiently imparted some wisdom of her own when it seemed I was slacking in a key factor of my recovery (doing my part when I leave?)! My biceps no longer look like a healthy person's wrist, my quality of sleep is so much better, food doesn't wear me out anymore (which is such a weird thing, probably don't tell any other doctor that it is a symptom), and I gained 15 lbs. The staff makes me smile and laugh, and the entire experience changed my life. I definitely needed some pointers, and they never treated me like I should know better. Stuff happens, and patience is a virtue. Warmth and compassion cannot be faked and it goes a very long way.
