My family’s experience was with Scott. During this difficult time he was patient , caring and supportive of all our needs. We couldn’t have been more pleased especially since we had specific requests.

Our Funeral Director, Sharon Unitas, and the entire Staff at Kirkley-Ruddick exceeded expectations, going above and beyond to provide a dignified service. Everyone was kind, caring, compassionate, patient, and responsive to our every question and need. Sharon’s expert advice was practical and tremendously helpful with the multiple decisions we faced during this difficult time. My family and I are most appreciative of their amazing service and support.

I can't begin to thank Scott Ruddick and the entire staff of Kirkley Ruddick for going above and beyond and making sure everything was handled for my Dad's viewing and service. They addressed everything with extreme professionalism and empathy. There was so much else to worry about, and having to not worry about this process was such a relief.

Kirkley Ruddick Funeral Home truly made saying goodbye to my mother the best it could possibly be.

After receiving the phone call that my mother had passed, I made a last minute decision to change funeral homes. Not fully in the proper state of mind to be changing arrangements after already making plans, I did and I’m so happy that I made this change.

Scott called me minutes after I spoke with his coordinator. He allowed me time to get to the nursing home to be with my mother prior to her being transported. Upon seeing her, I returned his call and asked that she be removed from that place as quickly as possible. Within 20 minutes, Ed arrived to take her. One of the kindest, soft spoken people I’ve ever met, he promised he would take care of her.

The following day I met with Scott to make my Mom’s arrangements. It did not feel like a business transaction. Our meeting was filled with personal stories from both of us, immense compassion and even some humor. I left with a feeling of relief and warmth even though my Mom was gone, I instinctively knew that Scott and his staff would treat her like their own family. This was miles above the treatment she received over the past 2-1/2 years in that nursing home.

The next week brought many feelings, but again, Kirkley Ruddick went beyond what I expected to make things easier. A beautiful obituary was posted on their website along with a guestbook for friends and family to sign and a place for photos to be posted.

Friday evening we had a family viewing, and though several people came late, Ed allowed us our time with her. She was beautiful laid out and the room was extremely comfortable. Crazy too, there were three pieces of artwork in the room that my Mom had in our home growing up. Ed spent over an hour speaking with me and my family gathering information and stories about Mom. He is so personable and again, made this hard conversation really wonderful. He was extremely attentive and kind and also offered personal stories that made the interaction much more relaxing.

Saturday was the service. The room was set up beautifully and Scott allowed me to print bookmark prayer cards that he had laminated. He allowed me to decorate the room with family photos, picture boards and floral arrangements that my mother-in-law created. Ed’s service was amazing. I honestly could not have asked for anything more perfect. My Mom was a life-long learner and avid reader. He closed the service with an analogy of life as a book. With the front cover, pages, spine and back cover in relation to life. It was absolutely perfect for her.

All in all, though this was a hard time, Kirkley Ruddick really made these final days the absolutely best they could be. I will be forever grateful to Scott and his staff for all of their help.

After the sudden death of my father, we returned to KR again. Scott took care of us, and was very personable and respectful while we were grieving. It's like a one-stop shop. You can go there and have just about everything taken care of that you'll need.
The decorations and packages that went along with the basics were all very nicely done. The portrait was an especially nice touch, which really captured dad's character. We had both the viewing and memorial at the funeral home, and had them transport the casket and immediate family to the cemetery. It was nice to not have to worry about anything.
