My pulse went up standing here. This is quite an amazing french inspired military fort. People have always been brilliant when forced by tyranny to defend. Baltimore is America!
It was an amazing experience to hear the Star Spangled Banner while standing in front of the flag flying over the fort where it was originally penned! I wish I had more time to spend there.
Very nice. Lots of interesting information and neat things to see. There is a lot of walking involved, so if mobility is an issue, you might need to make an alternate plan.
It's good. The staff here were just very different from what we typically experience at an NPS site. They already seemed tired and we were there fairly early (9:15a). The park rangers who were out by the barracks were far more friendly, and helpful. One ranger just went above and beyond to answer questions of anyone who asked. We really appreciated their enthusiasm! The volunteers and the kids doing the fife and drum camp added a lovely touch to our visit.
