Dr. Varon is a gift to adolescent psychiatry in the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Blessed to have had the privilege to work with this man. Highly recommend for any parent looking for a provider.
I saw doctor Varon for many years. (10+ years). I am now an adult. He said he will still see me, but I wanted to switch to an adult doctor.
The cons: Be prepared to wait for more than a half hour. He never runs on time.The one thing I don't like is that he is more a "family" psychiatrist. He brings your family in to confidential meetings. I wish he would see just me as sometimes I would like to speak with things about my family. I felt like I was still treated as a child when I am an adult. He has main knowledge in children medication and therapists so when I ask him for adult help, he doesn't always know the answer.
The good: He was prompt when I needed a doctor when I had a mental breakdown and was the first to answer my phone call. He is very prompt on scheduling. His secretary is a girl that is in Israel so she will contact you. She is easy to get a hold of and will always make appointments. The office environment is nice.
As said, I am now full grown so I am switching doctors, but he is knowledgeable and his hours are good.
I am switching doctors, but would recommend him to anyone that has a child in need of pediatric family psychiatry.
Dr. Varon is a long-standing psychiatrist for my kids. He has years of valuable experience as well as the ability to listen in a therapeutic manner to help figure things out. He has half hour appointments; but with him, this is all you need. His appointment costs are high; but this is because of his quality of care. We are able to get reimbursement from our insurance company.
