I had my wedding and reception here. Honestly not a whole lot to do but it is a nice venue that offers great views for pictures. Great if you're planning a gathering or event
I really like this park a lot. It has a museum in the visitors center, and the area along the water has a nice beach area with a beautiful view of the water. This park is fairly large, and there was a wedding there when I visited. It is also dog friendly, and if you are bringing your dog(s), be sure the dog has flea/tick treatment. The lady at the visitor's center warned me about the park having a lot of ticks, and she was very friendly. Luckily for me, my dog didn't pick up any. We walked the trails, and I enjoy the beach area the most. I like the Woodland Indian Village. I would come back again.
It was great even in the light rain. Nice walk with lots of history and good information along the way. Can’t wait to go back during some of the events. The staff was super and made sure we knew the best places to go.
Wow, this place has a lot of neat stuff. We did the lab tour. Very neat. Terrific samples. We will need to go back and explore some other areas.

Seventy archaelogical sites have discovered 9,000 years of human habitation of this area. In modern times, it has served as the home to the first Attorney General of Maryland, Richard Smith, as well as the home to Margaret Mackall Smith, wife of the 12th U.S. President, Zachary Taylor, and was also the site of a War of 1812 naval battle.
