  Calver MMA is great! The instructors are friendly and patient. They take time to explain and demonstrate the techniques. And then monitor the students as they implement them, ensuring proper form. My son really enjoys going to class. We've tried other martial arts, and this by far has been our best experience.

  This school is a family based environment. As a female participant, the guys treat you with respect and you are part of the team. The instructors are top notch! The classes are built for all levels, beginners through advanced students.
  
  I've been to other schools where they just try to push to see how "tough" you are. Calvert MMA does not operate that way. They balance the necessity to train hard with safety and emphasis on technique. Each individual is given the opportunity to train at whatever level they are comfortable with. Safety is paramount.
  
  Additionally, the instructors will curb the purpose of the training to whatever you want...fitness, self defense, employment purposes or just to improve your self confidence.

  I've been to gyms all over and am so impressed with this school. The owner, Jim Thrift, has extensive experience within martial arts as well as law enforcement, as do all the instructors. Whether you are looking to learn how to defend yourself or develop your BJJ/Muay Thai skills and become a viable competitor, this gym will ensure you achieve your goals.

  Calvert MMA is a great jujitsu Academy. Fantastic instructors meet the needs of both beginner and advanced jujitsu students. If you are brand new to jujitsu do not hesitate to come in and give it a try you’ll be glad you did. Beginners will find a Laid-back welcoming atmosphere where the emphasis is on sound technique. More advanced jujitsu practitioners will find opportunities to roll/ train at higher levels of intensity. I have been training here for a little over a year and I highly recommend it.

  This is a school above all the rest. Their instruction is second to none. The instructors take the time to work with you to ensure you are learning the moves and executing them correctly. The school makes sure all students are safe as possible while practicing. I joined over a month ago and was welcomed by not only staff but other members. The senior members/students show and work with you to ensure you're correct.
