The Ruark Boatworks is at 103 Hayward St. at jct. Maryland Ave., .6 mi. e. of the Richardson Maritime Museum. Talented local boatbuilder volunteers teach visitors about the art of wooden boatbuilding. Boat restoration and new boatbuilding projects are in progress, and volunteers show visitors around to explain this endangered craft.

Welcome to the Richardson Maritime Museum. Jim Richardson (1906-1991) stands out from other late 20th century Chesapeake Bay boatbuilders for his view to the past, which sought to rediscover, preserve and pass on methods used by craftsmen of previous generations.
Richardson Maritime Museum is open Sundays from 1 - 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.* or by appointment.
