On a rainy, foggy December day, the Park rangers were friendly and helpful. A beautiful site!
US history is the best! The visitors center has a small gift shop on the 1st floor. The rangers are super nice and very helpful and informative. Upstairs is a museum that exhibits a timeline and artifacts of the Battle of Monocacy. There's also a self guided driving tour of some of the important sites. Give yourself at least 3-4 hours if you want to see everything in detail.
This is a very nice place to visit. We enjoyed the Junior Ranger Program. We learn a lot and saw interesting things. They boys loved the place and the friendly rangers and staff. Nature is beautiful around that area.
This was a great little museum! Very surprised with how nice and informative the exhibits we're. The staff was really friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place for families. They have several different hiking trails that range from a half mile to three. If you want a nice little battlefield that's family friendly, this is it.
They we're having a re-enactment the day we visited here. The participants were dressed in uniforms and explained the importance of the Battle of Monocacy and they fired cannons. The museum portion (upstairs) is well done. There is a children's area with period clothing to try on. There is a small gift shop and you can stamp your National Park book, so bring it in! We enjoyed our visit here.
Monocacy National Battlefield Visitor Center The interactive and multimedia exhibits located in the Visitor Center include numerous vignettes which take the visitor to important locations related to the Battle as well as electronic maps, historical artifacts and interpretive displays of the Battle of Monocacy.
