“We were so lucky to find WLCN when we were searching for a Pre-K program for our daughter. Ms. Carren and Ms. Jessica in the 4’s class were a dream duo; they are kind, nurturing, and very knowledgeable in their application of the early childhood curriculum. We especially loved how they handled social emotional learning and their ability to redirect and teach social skills - it is so important to find teachers who model problem solving and compassionate social emotional competencies. The teachers put a lot of hard work into monthly lesson planning, and it shows when you volunteer in the classroom. Lessons are well thought out, creative, and connected. They have built in time for math, literacy, and STEM. They do it all! Everything about the school is very efficiently run; the parent committees and the organization was wonderful, and the co-op program made every parent very involved. It is such a warm environment for parents, students, and their families. Had we not moved over the summer we would have loved to put our son in the 2yo program as well next year. Thank you so much to WLCN for providing such a wonderful first learning experience for our family. We were so blessed to have Ms. Carren and Ms. Jessica as our daughters first teachers. The only thing that I would change is that I wish that we had found WLCN earlier!”

“Newest eatery to hit the Columbia Mall restaurant row, Urban Plates is a fun spot for healthy and tasty food. An interesting take on the cafeteria concept, three lines form at the start depending on if you want a salad, sandwich or platter. This directs people along the tray line in an efficient manner. Of course, you can have two or three of the offerings above in any combination, just queue up appropriately, and order your items as they are prepared. Everything is fresh, house made and to your order. There are craft brews, draft beer and tasty desserts. Prices are quite reasonable as well. The restaurant has a big, open decor, a variety of different seating arrangements, with interesting furniture and fixtures. Like a lot of modern restaurants, the lofty, industrial ceiling and hard surfaces make for elevated sound levels, but my visits were not in anyway overly loud. There is a nice outdoor seating area as well for those nice weather days, though the scenery is just the parking lot and folks walking by. Urban Plates falls in line with modern, trendy, Millennial-focused restaurants, with online ordering and quick pickup and other features in demand. It's worth checking out.”
