  Top notch Howard County elementary school. Diverse student body. Faculty, staff and administration are professional & friendly.

  I am very familiar with the school and believe that it is deserving of a 5-star rating.
  
  The teachers at the school have been fantastic in my experience. There is good attention to detail and good strategies to meet the Maryland state board of education curriculum mandates. The classroom sizes are approximately 21 students to each one teacher. While this may seem like a lot, many classrooms do have a paraeducator to assist with some of the students.
  
  The school offers two different music class rooms, it boasts a nice gymnasium, and a good-sized cafeteria than meets the Howard County healthy eating program requirements. This shows that in addition to academics, the school was committed to extracurricular and supportive activities to enhance and enrich the students in parallel with providing a good education.
  
  The school structure itself was built in 1998. The school premises is kept clean and the interior of the school is also kept clean and has a good "community" feel - meaning each grade has their own specific area, but it is easy for the different grades to interact by simply walking down the hall. There is a relatively new playground in front of the school for the younger children and there's a much larger playground in the back, which includes a swing set, two basketball courts, a large play surface, and about a 1/3 acre or so of grass for other fun games and activities.
  
  The school offers education for kindergarten through 5th grade. In addition to those grades, there is also a curriculum for preschool. Moreover, the Howard County Parks and Recreation offers before and after care throughout the county, with a branch held right at Gorman Crossing Elementary.
  
  The principal and vice principal are both very engaged in school activities and do make a point to familiarize themselves with each of the students - to the extent possible. The school also has one main custodial staff member who makes every person feel welcome on premises! This location certainly would not be the same without him!
  
  While I may have complaints about the education system at large, I do not have any specific negatives about the school. For those moving into the area that may be zoned for the school, I believe you're in luck! If you are curious or making a decision based on the School zoning alone, have faith in this Elementary School!
  
  Overall, I would rate this school as 4 ½ stars but I do not have that rating available. Because of the cordial faculty members at this location I will err on the generous side: 5 stars!

  My daughter is getting a fantastic education here. Great facilities, thoughtful teachers and staff. We moved here from NC and wow what an improvement!
