New Pastor. Fr. Avelino Gonzales. Great Homilies and charismatic priest. Just came back from a 5 year assignment from Rome.

Several beautiful weddings held here. Very covid19 aware. Very safe.. Every other row is blocked off for social distancing. Signs to wear masks are clearly posted.

I grew up in this Church until i was 12 years old but still stop in for mass. I love it. It is amazing to me the variety of people together in one place for the same reason. People from all walks of life, from the North, East, West, South, young, old and in all kinds in between.

A great Catholic worship environment with vibrant communities. Several ministries to being to and participate in the Eucharist.
I belong to The Immaculate Heart of Mary Choir, - one of the most vibrant African Liturgical music ministries in MD.
St. Matthias is a great place to belong!

It is a pretty relaxed atmosphere to worship God in spirit and truth. Although, the overwhelming majority of worshippers are African. Hence, the choice of songs by the choir is usually that which suits the audience. This is quite interesting and fun especially for those who want to get in contact with the culture. In addition, the service is pretty straightforward and same with most other Catholic Churches the world over.
