Have been treated by Dr. Atkins for the last 3+ years. I recently moved over 2 hours away and still continue to go to Dr. Atkins. He has always been super helpful and caring. What some may consider arrogance is probably his to the point no b.s. approach. He has always been extremely caring and helpful and goes out of his way to help me anyway he can and I have and I would strongly recommend him to anyone.
My husband and I are new to the area and needed a primary physician. We booked appointments with dr Atkins and both went to see him today. He and the staff at McCready medical couldn’t have been nicer. Dr Atkins is quite knowledgeable in many areas (certainly the ones that concerned us) of medicine, health, and wellness and shared his wisdom freely and patiently. As a family physician his job is to connect the dots between all of the specialists and look at the patient as a whole. He took the time and did that job very well. Having come from the New York metropolitan area we are accustomed to some of the best medical care in the country and were concerned that we would have to compromise that when we moved to the eastern shore. Thankfully so far this has not been the case and dr Atkins is no exception
Given the reviews, I was hesitant to go to Dr. Atkins, but I'm new in town, and I needed to see a doctor>>sore throat, cough, achy, low-grade fever, intermittent runny nose. I found Dr. Atkins to be mild-manned and cordial. He wasn't a bit arrogant. He asked me my symptoms. He re-took my temperature. Checked my nose, throat, ears, and listened to my breathing. Went over my medical history with me. He then came back with a printout of symptoms associated with allergies. He said he didn't think I had a cold but rather allergies, especially since the pollen levels are so high right now. The meds suggested, he said, should work for both. Even people not normally plagued by allergies can be affected when levels are this high. He went over the symptoms with me and told me specifically WHAT medications I can get from a pharmacy or from Dollar General (gave the specific name brands) that will address each symptom. He then spent time on the computer trying to find a place that will give me the best price for the inhaler and other medications I take regularly. I have NEVER had a doctor do this. Throughout this, he was very pleasant. His staff found out I walked to the facility and called CARE-a-van services that took me home for free. Overall, I was very much impressed with this doctor and the outpatient services staff at McCready. Off to a great start in my new town.
