Tim is an excellent and patient teacher. He has been my guitar instructor since 1984 and now he is teaching my daughter piano. We would highly recommend him to anyone wanting music lessons.

Tim is a great musician and teacher. I particularly like how he is responsive to what I need and want to learn. I'm grateful for his patience and his ability to explain things in different ways when I don't get it the first time. His playing skills, knowledge of music theory, and decades of experience in teaching music has been extremely helpful to me. I started with Tim about a year ago when I was just learning a lot of different songs on my own but felt that I was not really advancing. I play a lot of jazz and was baffled by many of the chords I would find in the Real Books and elsewhere. Now in addition to learning a lot of cool tunes I am learning how the notes work together and how different voicings of chords can be used. I enjoy my lessons with with Tim and his instruction is enabling me to establish a solid foundation that helps me greatly in all aspects of my playing and composition.

Tim Hellane is as talented a musician as he is a teacher. As an adult with no musical background I was nervous and apprehensive for my first piano lesson. I immediately began to feel at ease and knew I was in good hands. During my first year of lessons I have made great strides in my knowledge of music and my playing. Lessons are never mundane. He plans the lessons with your own musical interests in mind, but at the same time teaching the essentials. His instruction makes you want to go above and beyond.
