Individuals classified with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) experience memory loss to a greater extent than expected for age and progress to a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) at a faster rate than controls. 1 It has been hypothesized that MCI represents a transitional phase between normal function and AD 2 for many individuals.
