One of the most compassionate and caring Drs I know.
He also is knowledgeable and always up to date on available treatments.
His office staff is great too.

I credit Dr Fine and his colleague Dr Taitelbaum with saving my life back in 2013 when I had developed sudden acute necrotizing pancreatitis and then went into kidney failure in my late 20s. Shortly after I got out of my few week stint in the ICU under their team's care, I read a bit about the history of how this necrotizing pancreatitis condition had been treated by gastroenterologists over the years. I had this feeling that the best thing Dr Fine did for me was exercise restraint while taking very good care of me by ensuring I was monitored constantly and imaged reliably, heavily sedated, and allowed to rest. My mom, a nurse, and I still chat every now and then about how Dr Fine in particular advocated against operating on, or even aspirating the fluid out of, my abdomen. In the few clinical meta-analyses on pancreatitis that explored outcomes for aspiration cases in particular - interestingly - there appeared in my reading of the analyses to be an under-appreciated risk of serious bacterial infection from the aspiration procedure itself that could actually increase mortality significantly. I'll never know for sure but my condition has been in complete remission ever since. I hope he and his colleagues at the Greater Boston Gastro practice are all doing well.
