I was impressed to find two of my favorite books almost immediately. The library has a very relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful building and also seems to have a lot of cool and creative events going on which are posted throughout the library. I find it calming and relaxing to sit in a comfortable chair there with a book of fiction or poetry and zone out. Can’t wait to take my son to check out the kids section.

Beautiful library with dedicated, knowledgeable staff. My mother-in-law, Beverley Camp, was Director of the Lawrence Library for over 20 years and loved her job, staff, and that building immensely. Great children’s program, as well as interesting architecture and artifacts too!

Almost every week during WWII, my grandmother, Lena Ramsey sent her five young children, aged 4 to 11, to this special library with a list of books. The children walked one mile hauling a little wagon or a sled for carrying the books home in any kind of weather. They were allowed to pick one book each and never missed a chance to add a treasure to the wagon. They became voracious readers and passed their joy of reading and exploring libraries on to their children. I would love to see Lena Ramsey's library card list!
