“Tavern so well preserved and presentation brilliant. Shows all the different layers of a place resided by the Jones family for close to a 200 years. Well worth the visit. Like an archeological dig!”

“On a 40 degree day in January we were still able to appreciate the expansive grounds deCordova sits on. The indoor exhibits were interesting, though I felt myself wishing the decor called back the time period of the deCordova castle similar to the way things are handled for the interior of the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum. We kept seeing pictures of how parts used to look, but then a garden patio would be bare or a room would be white-walled to look like an exhibit hall, not a room in a castle. It was a little muddy in places due to recent weather but the views ranged from pretty to breathtaking as we moved from one outdoor installation to the next.”

“I had some stamps from my grandfather. I called the museum and was able to get some guidance as to what to do on the phone. Truly kind and knowledgeable staff. I had been to one other appraiser who said he'd review the stamps. I drove an hour and a half to see him, and he didn't even bother to open the books completely, he just saw a few, then disregarded the whole collection. My day was wasted as I had to drive through Boston traffic to get to him. If you're looking for a kind and honest review with lots of cool facts and details in the history of the stamps, this is the place to call or go to. I'm definitely planning a visit to the museum now, just to check it out after this great experience and meet the staff. I'm happy to say, even though my collection maybe not be of much value, they are very gorgeous stamps, and will make a beautiful piece of art for my apartment that I'll always remember my grandfather by. I think I just might have caught the stamp collecting bug!”

“Hiking through the woods today with our dog Sadie, never before on this trail when we noticed this tree growing between two huge rocks. Noticed a plaque on one of the rocks under the snow; once we removed the dusting reveeled Aureet's memorial. Said Kaddish, left a stone. Stunned to see the date of her tragic loss was 26 years ago today.”

“The Pierce House was the perfect venue for our August wedding. My husband and I were looking for a wedding venue with both indoor and outdoor areas which could accommodate 150 guests. the Pierce house far exceeded our expectations. Nancy, the house manager, is lovely to work with. She helped coordinate vendors and deliveries, and was so helpful day-of moving the ceremony into the tent and the buffet into the house to accommodate the rainy weather. The house itself is beautiful. We were able to hang family photos throughout. The dressing rooms were light filled and made for good pictures! There were so many spaces where people ended up sitting and talking late into the night. The tent is also beautiful with the fairy lights, and we had no trouble fitting all our guests inside with room to spare. Importantly for us, we were able to use the vendors we wanted, and brought our own alcohol. I highly recommend the Pierce house for any wedding!”

“It was truly an experience. The art is in order from latest to newest. The passage at the end of the tour brings it all together. It helps give better understanding to why those pieces were selected.”

“This small but mighty museum was a great stop on our Boston visit. We were welcomed immediately and our questions were answered. The set up and displays are great. Things to look at, touch, play with, and listen to. Even as adults we enjoyed the children's room. We we're fortunate to have the place to ourselves. Great for all ages. Our college age kids enjoyed too. Grounds were inaccessible in March but I'm sure they are beautiful in summer.”

“The Hart Nautical Gallery is part of the MIT Museum in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Admisaion to the gallery is free. It can be accessed through the MIT entrance at 77 Massachusetts Avenue. There are no signs pointing the way. You are on your own when you get there. The gallery is one large room plus a hallway with displays of full-hull ship models that chronicle several centuries of ship building and design. I didn't count myself, but the website said there were 40 models. There are some ship blueprints displayed as posters on the walls. At first, I had the same reaction as a few other reviewers, ho-hum. But the intricate detail of the models brought me into the lives of the people who designed and built these ships and the lives of the people who sailed them. As a matter of fact, I would have liked to know more about the number of sailors it took to launch a voyage. It is well worth a stop. I put a slideshow of some additional photos of the models on YouTube.”

“For a small museum it packs a lot of great content in an easy to consume layout. My son and I really enjoyed the housing recreation model to get a sense of what it was like during that age. My son is currently studying ancient civilization and we will be returning to learn even more.”
