  As a new board member at Thacher Montessori, I am impressed with the dedication of staff and administration to providing and sustaining a wonderful Montessori learning environment. I am also struck by the quality of the facilities and access to outdoor learning spaces (a farm right next door collaborates on student projects and skiing just down the block). Most importantly, the students seem confident, comfortable and engaged.

  We have been at Thacher for ten years now, so we have experienced two administrations. The transition with Don has gone smoothly from my perspective. I have always found the staff to be very respectful to the student body, regardless of their age. I have been a parent volunteer at Thacher over the past ten years and have worked at Thacher for a short period of time to help with a vacancy. Never during this time did I see a staff member use a cellphone in the presence of students. I have observed teachers speaking to students at other schools and I have cringed at the tone and lack of respect given to the student. At Thacher, I love how students will work on their conflicts with each other while the teacher helps to guide them. Our daughter loves going to this school. She is not afraid to speak to adults and ask questions. Her love for learning has definitely been nurtured by Thacher. Besides learning math-science-language, students develop independence and a love of learning for life. Montessori education is a learning curve. Once you research it and observe it, you begin to understand it. I highly recommend this Thacher.

  Thacher has been an amazing experience for both our child and us as parents. We are Boston residents and our public school choices were limited. We searched and toured many private options and Thacher was by far the best fit for our child. We've enjoyed the community, the guest speakers and events. Most of all we are grateful for our child's love of learning in an open environment. Thacher is also one of the most affordable of the private schools out there. This year, I hope to see more crossover between subjects to make a more memorable and cohesive learning experience.
  
  I rarely participate in social networks or write online reviews, but I felt compelled to refute some of the outlandish accusations made by the one star reviewer. The implication that Thacher is "greedy and immoral" is laughable. I challenge the reviewer to define immoral and give me an example of immoral action by Thacher. Also, Don and all of the staff are very open to meet to discuss concerns and address them publicly. If the reviewer had any intestinal fortitude, they'd bring up their grievances directly to Don or their child's guide. Likely, the review was late to pickup their child repeatedly and had to pay the nominal late fees. Thacher is a business too, they need to pay the staff who stay late.
