The Arc of Bristol County d/b/a proAbility is a non-profit agency that supports individuals with DD/ID in a variety of community based settings. These settings include 24 and non-24 hour residential supports, day supports, home based treatment, family supports, recreation and guardianship to name a few.
Brief history of The Arc of Bristol County: It must have been heartbreaking. To have a new baby in your arms, and the doctors saying because of the child's special needs, you should put him or her "away," essentially forget about them. Such was the case for many families prior to the 1950's.
The Arc of Bristol County is a wonderful organization helping children and adults with developmental disabilities. The Arc provides services to individuals of all ages and support to the families of our individuals, in keeping with the traditions begun when The Arc was formed in 1959.
