  All I can say is that when my child and I visited Silver Spruce for the first time it was love at first goat. The certification of a Nature’s Classroom was just a bonus…as well as it’s location on a beautiful piece of property… in a large historical house whose unique character inside and out has been integrated into the schools multifaceted curriculum in a magical way…oh…and the fact that the director’s love for the students and the student’s love in return was palpable! There was no hesitation in my mind. This was the place for us…if they had space…it was March had I waited too long?!
  My oldest daughter, now in 1st grade had previously attended other Montessori Schools so we were familiar with the Montessori way of doing things ( i.e. providing students with innovative tools and materials to access the curriculum in multiple ways) This appeals to ALL learning styles: styles like my oldest who learns through personal interaction with the curriculum and has a strong connection to nature, as well as my youngest who loves to sing, run, and socialize and needs more encouragement to explore subjects in more depth. Language arts, math, geography, social/emotional development, science, the arts are all part of the Montessori Curriculum.
  SO WHY SILVER SPRUCE? What sets Silver Spruce apart is that its culture. The directors, teachers, AND PARENTS all work together to create an inspiring and loving environment. The director has a personal connection to individualized instruction based on her past experience as a mother. She and her husband have now dedicated their lives to connecting children's natural amazement with the world around them with their personal learning styles and personalities. The director’s genuine interest in the success of ALL children permeates the school and more importantly its teachers. The instructors are patient, kind, take genuine enjoyment from working with children, and encourage students to be responsible stewards of their own bodies, actions, and the world around them.
  Take a few minutes to enjoy all of the little smiling faces at Silver Spruce Montessori and you will know what I know. My feelings can be summed up in an experience we just had last week while on a field trip to an apple orchard . After a beautiful hayride through the orchard (on which the teachers led the students in singing their apple song) students were gathered around for a lesson in plants and how they grow. The farmer asked if they knew the anatomy of an apple and how a tree grows from a seed… Hands shot up and the students shouted “YES!”. This wasn’t surprising, but what happened next was. The farmer then asked now how many of you know what grafting is? AGAIN hands shot up (albeit not quite as many) and replied, “Yes!” Really? The farmer questioned one of the little girls with her hand up and to the farmers amazement hit the nail on the head. I was surprised too, but a mom near me laughed and said quietly, “You learn A LOT at Montessori!”

  Silver Spruce is a true hidden gem. The facility is in an old farmhouse on a back road in Grafton. The space is charming and enriching. It definitely spurs the children's imagination and ignites a passion for learning. Inside you'll find countless hands on activities which engage the senses and teach practical life skills, as well as books and instruments. The children are encouraged to touch and explore. Even with all these things the school still has a nice comfortable feeling of home.
  
  The yard is filled with beautiful landscape and an abundance of flowers. The large play yard is filled with more inviting things for the kids to really dig into. There is a "Messy Kitchen" where many experimental concoctions are made of dirt, water, & twigs. There is a large sandbox and a greenhouse. There is a climbing structure with swings and slides and a lookout fort. At the bottom of the yard you'll find the resident goats Buck, Lola, & Tootsie which the children feed the leftovers of their daily snacks. This yard is also one of the state's rare Nature's Classroom. It really is perfect for a child to be lost in exploration.
  
  I'll be honest, as beautiful as the school is, I was nervous about sending my little girl off to an unfamiliar place. The teachers have really made this place a safe, loving, & and nurturing place for her. They really get down onto the children's level and connect with each one. She loves her teachers and is excited to go off to school everyday. Ready for an adventure. When I pick her up she is dirty from playing and had a sense of fulfillment from all the things she did that day.
  
  My 3 year old daughter is just finishing up her first year at Silver Spruce and I cannot say enough good things about this school. I whole heartedly recommend it.

  Our son attended preschool and kindergarten here and this school exceeded our expectations. The facility is in an old farm house type building and is the perfect environment for early learning with lots of open spaces for working in groups or alone. Outside is a great play area with swings, a slide, large sandbox and lots of plants and some animals for the kids to work with. The teachers and staff are the best. They have nurtured and developed our son into a good student and socially conscious young boy. We cannot say enough about this school and we will be missing them dearly after he moves on.
