“IMPORTANT: READ UPDATE Totally and utterly full of trash. The water looks like guacamole and tastes like nuclear waste. I have found a truck tire, shopping cart, traffic cone, a mailbox, used condoms, syringes, and tampons in the water, and have seen people washing their dogs in there. One of my younger siblings got sick after going in there and it ruined their July. I warn you, do not visit here if you want to swim. The playground here is ok, and there are also some bicycle jumps across the way and my son found that most enjoyable when we were there. He didn’t even bring his bike. But everything else is a poisonous mess. UPDATE: They have gotten new docks, drained the bad water and put freshwater in, put down new sand everywhere, and basically refurbished it. The pond is a good place to take you kids now. Have fun!”

“Billerica Water Works was established by an act of the Massachusetts Legislature in 1897. Construction of the original works began in 1898 and continued for several years. The water works was first activated in January of 1899. Water was at that time drawn from wells located in the area of the present Water Treatment Plant, where the original pumping station building remains.”

“They always have great homemade hot lunches fresh each day. They also have been a big help to the elderly locals who need transportation to do food shopping on Tuesdays to market basket. A very valuable asset.”
