WellBridge of Rochester Hills

Let me tell you about WellBridge of Rochester Hills. My brother was a long term resident, he was there over 4 years. It has been a little over a year since his passing and I was reflecting today of his time there. Let's start with the kitchen. The food is great. My brother was very picky. They made sure he was happy even if they had to make special meals for him. They made sure his 2 bowls of ice cream and his pop was always waiting for him when he sat down. One special lady made sure he had his chocolate candy. Then there was the lady that cut his hair. She went out of her way to cut it just right and would cut it even though I wasn't able to pay right away because I was out of town. The nursing staff put up with is out burst that were at times offensive and way out of line. They acted like they were friends joked and laughed with him , I have to say a special thank you to them. The therapy staff were great and took their time with him, especially the Gentle Giant I hope he is still there. Mike one of the owners would stop by and talk at lunch, just to give you an idea of how hands on it is there. When I had to pick up my brothers belongings there were at least 8 people that met me at the entrance. They did not know the exact time I was coming but they were there. That means to me they waited because they truly cared. I could see in their faces that they were sorry and sad. This is the WellBridge I know. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

PT and OT top notch. Dave the RN was great. Robin the RN was great. However food is terrible and discharge planner does not listen or take the time to listen, poor discharge instructions. Not enough nursing staff to help my loved one in and out of bed... when they are a fall risk... (from a previous fall)

This place is overall a good place. It is clean, well maintained, staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and the therapist are top notch and really care. The food is excellent and not limited to a specific menu at meal time. My only complaint and why I rated only 4 stars is the lack of staffing in nurses and aides. On average nurses have about 20 patients each to attend to per shift with usually only one aide to help take care of all their patients needs. This is unexceptable and dangerous. There were several times I waited over an hour for assistance.. Luckily I hadn’t fallen and injured myself and left laying there but being so short staffed can have the potential for disaster. That is my only concern otherwise it is an excellent place.
