Axel's Restaurant Mendota

Delicious food and great staff! Accidentally left a Christmas card (with cash inside) on the table after a department outing and they called to let me know they found it and were keeping it in the safe until I could pick it up. 100% integrity!

Axel's Restaurant offers a fantastic variety of delicious food. I always look forward to eating out at this place. The employees are always welcoming, their pricing is reasonable and the spot is always well organised. The environment is also very cool and quiet. Highly recommend!!

Things I liked: The wait staff are friendly and willing to modify the dish to your requirements. I ordered the 9oz sirloin and requested a side of asparagus with no butter or oil. They were happy to comply.
Things I thought were unfortunately lacking: One of the party members received their food later than the rest. Also, the portion sizes are far too big. I would rather the portions and the cost be brought down.

Here's the deal with Axel's. I mean I get it, it's a supper club type steak joint that's a classy but not classy enough to keep it from having a booth at the State Fair. Nice but not too nice. Good food but not amazing food. What you expect.

FOOD WISE the PRIME RIB is seasoned exceptionally well and is served beautifully. The POPOVERS always but the entire table in a good mood. STEAKS are nicely prepared. Most SEAFOOD is fine, though the one huge fish stew dish gets raves. AU GRATIN is a miss for me, just chunks of potatoes with melted cheese. Desserts were mixed, we liked the bailey's cake best.

Super fun with family. Great for kids because everyone can draw on table. All in all not bad at all.
