Lovely old acorn. I remember this place from the 'blue' days and was spruced up a bit but proly needs some renovation. This place is pretty, has a slightly dated look and exudes charm. Always did. Always will.
Love the weather-worn wooden benches for concert goers, the clanking of sailing tackle on masts, boats dipping in the wind on the edge of the lake, shady green picnic benches and tables, strolling couples, families with little children, and so on.
Lake Harriet is THE SPOT! I mean there is DO much to do here its a full day hang out. First, you got the lake of course, which is so beautiful that just sitting by the water and listening to the waves is truly a blessing. Then the food menu is top notch! Your out of the sun when you order the food which is great! The picnic areas are clean and neatly put together. The trails are wide and open. No moving off the side for the on coming person 😃 and the parking lots are decently sized, and there is multiple parking lots, so if 9ne is filled there is another one next door!
If you want a family day in the sun, this is the place!
Of the several bandshells built on the site, this is one of the better ones. Public concerts are common in the warmer months. There is a limit to the seating provided, so it doesn't hurt to bring your own just in case. If it is a colder day, do bring a wind breaker layer as the wind from the lake can give a bit of a chill.
Very nice peaceful place on a Sunday morning. Great place for families. The bandshell itself has lost a lot of its roofing material and needs work. Other than that observation this park is a great place. Highly recommend.
