Great Nature Center right in the heart of the cities. Trails where maintained well and flat for an easy stroll. Lots of great birds - especially water fowl. Also seen a little Muskrat. The trails go through wooded areas, meadows and a great boardwalk cuts through the park. Lots of nice benches to rest on & enjoy the sights.
Only downside is one side of the park runs along 35W so it was pretty loud .. but now I know so I will divert next time!
Bummer that no dogs are allowed, but a spectacular nature preserve!
Tons of wildlife. We happened to see:
Bunny taking a dust bath
Green Heron catching fish
Painted turtles
Snowy Egrets
Mallards
Swans
Plus lots of spots to play on downed trees along the trails, a dedicated nature play area, and a nice indoor education center.
Lots of engaging summer camps, too!
Quiet nature walk. Got see up close ducks and geese w their babies ;beavers? In the stream.marsh had lots to see . Paths are well maintained with lots of shaded areas and benches. Easy walk. Found in community book library interesting donated books.
Nice nature get away right in the middle of the city
An oasis of calm, though it's surrounded by busyness!
