Locked myself out of my truck. Found out from an employee at the shipper that the local non emergency police dispatch would be able to help out. They were having a really slow day but they got me back in the truck easily. Wish more communities were this generous with their public resources!
A few weeks ago, I was on my commute to work with my three year old daughter in the back seat, when my car suddenly shut off and would not restart. I was extremely upset and in panic mode. Then felt even worse when the police officers from Newport showed up. I thought I was going to be in trouble or fined for the way my car was parked on the shoulder. (I had to push my car in neutral out of the right lane so I wasn’t completely blocking traffic) But luckily the cops were very calm and helpful in the situation. They called about my extended warranty and scheduled a tow, they unbuckled my daughter’s car seat and gave us a ride to the Burger King to wait safely for the tow truck. They were all friendly and help make light of the situation which really made me feel relieved. Police officers are not always going to ruin a person’s day, often times they may actually save them even when it doesn’t feel that way. Thank you to those few officers that helped get my daughter and I taken care of that day.
