“I don't really know what people expect from a county run detox center. No one is throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars at them to make it a five star facility. I just got out of Ramsey County Detox after spending not quite 48 hours there, and I have nothing but good things to say about the staff there. I have been to that detox a few times and when I went years ago, it was not a good experience. The staff was indifferent and didn't want to be bothered. This time, and the time before, the staff was amazing and I had two separate staff members go out of their way to tell me their stories and how I could and WOULD stay sober if I wanted it, and I do want it. My counselor was amazing, and the physician assistant I spoke with on two occasions impacted me more than she''ll ever know. I encountered nothing but kindness there, and for that, I'm grateful. If you want to go to a high-end detox facility then find one and pay an arm and a leg. It's your choice if having your own room and a chef to make meals for you is what you want to get out of the experience. I was just happy to actually be helped emotionally and mentally when I was there - that's all I could have asked for. So I thank the staff from the bottom of my heart for that.”

We were able to make an appointment right away at the Excelsior location, and had a very good experience. The communication was great, and the office was unlike any other I have experienced - geared toward children of all ages, it is decorated really fun and they put my son at ease, and even got him to smile when they put on the sunglasses:) Ultimately, they advised us that is was not necessary to go ahead the procedure, offering an clear explanation which genuinely felt reassuring and commendable. While we are not even regular clients of Camp Smile, I have nothing but positive comments from our one time experience and would recommend them to anyone, especially with kids - they are great!”
