“This is such a special school! I was driving my son 45 minutes one way to a Catholic Montessori for two years so I was overjoyed when St John the Baptist Catholic Montessori opened in Excelsior. It is so much closer and my son has been loving it! He is sad on the weekends because he wants to go to school! The Guides and staff are so well prepared/educated, available and caring. I know I can talk to them about any concerns. I really love Montessori and this is Montessori done right. And it is genuinely Catholic to boot! My son has learned so much socially and emotionally as well as academically. Montessori really addresses the whole child, not just academics. And at the same time he can learn at his own pace and he gets lots of individualized attention which has really helped him to advance academically. I was so excited this school opened up just when we needed it and it goes from Toddler through 8th grade which is really wonderful because the Guides really have time to develop relationships with the children and the children with each other. I am so blessed to have found this unique school, my son couldn't be happier : )”

“Great school. Good memories... Very little to no bullying or crime issues (although there have been some incidents of drugs being sold on campus, I never came across it though). Unfortunately, there have been a few teen suicides and attempted suicides. No school shooting incidents (thank god), knock on wood. Great classes too. What's odd is that 16 hours of doing volunteer work in the community or otherwise is required to graduate. And also, Geometry isn't required for you to graduate as well, since in this school district geometry is an advanced class in 8th grade (which is stupid because the ACTs have quite a few geometry questions that require the knowledge learned in at least a 1-2 trimester geometry class) And yes, the school district operates on trimesters instead of semesters. Otherwise, great school. I hope it continues to be a source of pride for STMA.”

“This review is of the pool for swimming lessons. The instructors are kind, patient and knowledgeable. My son has taken three group courses and 1 semi-private course. We continue to take lessons here because they understand his abilities and challenge him at the level he is at. When we tried another place for lessons, a parent/child course, it was so poorly run, he quit 3 lessons in. The class was way too advanced for a beginner course. The water was freezing and the instructor was not engaging. It took him another two years to muster up the courage to try learning to swim again. The only reason I didn't give the pool 5 stars was because on busy nights seating is limited. You may have to stand. The pool does not have a diving board which could be beneficial when teaching diving into the water. But I appreciate that they keep the water so warm for the kids and that there are no drafts since there are no windows. We will continue to take lessons here until my son is a proficient swimmer. Our hope is that he can do all four major strokes and also swim the length of the pool. Just getting over his fear of the water was a huge victory and I have the New Brighton Parks and Recreation to thank for that!”

“I would recommend Small World to anyone, kids of any age! The staff is absolutely amazing. They take great care of the kids. Everytime I walk in I am always greeted by staff, any concerns with my children they always talk to me before making any decisions. My kids come home saying how much fun they had there with all the other kids. I feel my kids are always safe and well taken care of. I become so close with the staff they feel like family to my kids and I. I love talking with all the teachers and staff. I don't think I could ever trust any other daycare more than this one. As a single mother with daily anxiety, I never have to worry. They use an app I can always go on to see how my child is doing I love it. They are always on top of everything. I love this place!! Recommend 10/10!!”
