September of 2019, my wife and I had to find a permanent care facility for her dad. He had multiple health issues including: dementia, cardio vascular disease, diabetes, and multiple strokes. While it is never a fun thought of having to put a loved one into a “Nursing Home” We prayed about the decision and started searching for the right facility. While in the hospital searching for my father-in-law’s new home, we decided to go with Desoto Healthcare Center. This was an extremely emotional and stressful time and after finally making our decision we found out that the insurance he had would not cover a full time stay. Desoto Healthcare walked us through the steps of rehab and then transitioning to a long-term care and aided us through the process of switching his insurance. They handled our countless questions, worry, frustrations, and stress with the upmost grace and patience. They would keep us informed of all that was going on and would give us regular updates. We had so many questions and worries about all the “horror stories” you hear from nursing homes, but we were confident that Desoto Healthcare Center was the right place. Our stress and worry were quickly set at peace as the first few hours turned into days, then weeks and then months. (about 3.5 total) We feel that the care team at this facility gave my father-in-law better care then we could have done ourselves. My wife, who is retired, would pop in daily to check in on him and see how he was adjusting, but also to make sure there was no “funny business” going on. There was never a time that we felt uneasy, we were always greeted by the staff with warm and welcoming “hellos” and “how are y’all doings”. The care staff went above and beyond in taking care of my father-in-law. The wound care nurse would draw scenes/pictures on his foot dressing, sometimes holiday themed, and other times random simple drawing that show they truly care. Out of all the areas in the greater Memphis area I would only recommend this one. We are truly blessed that God led us to a facility and staff that would love on and care for my father-in-law and our whole family in the last few months before his passing. It is with the upmost joy and honor that we recommend Desoto Healthcare Center in Southaven, MS.

I visited Gary here several time before he went to Heaven and I told all the workers they were so great. Not one of them had an attitude. They took care of Gary and they'd pick at him & he loved it.

Reluctantly I had to find a long term care facility for my mother. She spent 10+ years here. The staff was/is EXCELLENT.....the food was fabulous and my mother never had a bed sore or a bruise (until her last week). She was always well taken care of from the doctors and nurses to even the maintenance staff. The last day of her life as I held her hand, each and every one if the employees came by her room to pay their respects. Tho putting a loved one in a nursing home is a gut wrenching decision, this is the absolute best place for them to be.

My mother was a resident here for 9 yrs. She received great care. The staff is top notch. Just like anywhere, you get an unprofessional staff member now and then. Just like all homes, the staff is overworked and underpaid. Even with that they keep a good professional attitude. For some reason our society cuts the budget on our sick and elderly. Sad.. Hopefully one day we will change that. The facility manager is a great guy. Overall great experience.
